One More Faber Castell Gel Stick Card

I am having so much fun with these Faber Castell Gel Sticks. They are the kids version of the scrumptious Gelatos by Faber Castell. Today I made a super quick card. I applied Gel Sticks in three colors on the Kraft Resist pattern paper by Tim Holtz. Then gently rubbed to blend. I then applied a little moisture with a wet paper towel to blend further and remove some of the color from the resist areas. I used my new memory box stencil to add brown dots to the corner of the card to simulate tread marks. I stamped the Happy Birthday on the card and added the image with foam tape. The Harley image is from Clearly Vintage.

Another Card Using Faber Castell Gel Sticks

Today I was cleaning up my work areas and of course the whole time I kept stopping to make a card. Don't laugh at me. You know what I mean. It breaks my heart to clean up. I know myself and once I put things away I hate to take them back out. Often I forget I even have things when they are put away in boxes. Below is the card I made. I got out my color wheel and picked three colors that went well together. I embossed the background with a Tim Holtz Texture Fades folder. I them colored it with my new Fabell Castell Gel Sticks. I gently rubbed embossing gel across the embossed card stock, applied Antiquities Gold powder to the surface and heated.

A Card Made With Faber Castell Gel Sticks

Today while at Jerry's Artarama I found all kinds of fun artist tools made by Faber Castell for kids. I decided to buy a few different sets including oil pastels, gel sticks and beeswax crayons. I am waiting for the Gelatos from Faber Castell to come in the mail but couldn't resist buying the gel sticks. They were only $16 for both sets. According to Faber Castell they are similar to Gelatos only made for kids. So they are not lightfast or permanent.

I made the card below using several Cuttlebug embossing folders. I cut the embossed circle from the folder and applied several colors of gel sticks directly to the circle. I then used my finger to blend the colors. The gel sticks are similar in consistency to a lipstick. They are extremely creamy. They catch the raised area but leave the recessed areas uncolored if you are gentle.

I then used another folder to emboss the dark brown card stock background. I applied gel stick to the raised areas and the edge of the card stock. What is so great about the gel sticks is that you can use them on lots of surfaces. The little flower is wood with gel stick applied and a liquitex paint pen for the details.
