Peerless Watercolors

My teacher Jane Davenport from my online course recommended these fun watercolor paints by Peerless. They come in paper form. Here is the travel palette I made with the papers. I will use a waterbrush for no mess water coloring on the go.

Faces and Mixed Media Page

Last week I started taking several online classes. One class is Supplies Me by Jane Davenport. It is a wonderful class with lots of online interaction with the teacher. We are learning how to draw the human form while discovering different media and supplies. So far the class is worth every penny. I am having so much fun. Here are my first face sketches.

This is my first mixed media page. I did step by step instructions. I did this page before practicing the faces.

My First Holiday Cards of the Year

I wish this card photographed better as I just love the way it came out. The stamp is by Stampendous. I got it at Michael's on sale. I inked the stamp with Ranger Archival Ink in Vermillion. Then I inked the two colors of Distress Inks with a foam pad into the leaves and flowers. The sentiment stamp is by Amuse. I finished it off with Stickles accents in Fruit Punch. I think this will be my go to card for the holidays. It was extremely easy.

More Fun With Distress Stains and Stencils

Yesterday I picked up the new Distress Stains from Ranger. There are 12 colors and each one is scrumptious. I made this card using the stains, Distress Inks and a stencil by Dylusions. The lace and the button are antiques. The tissue tape is by Tim Holtz. The stamp is by Oxford Impressions. I can't remember where the photo is from. Please let me know if you recognize it.

This week I received a bunch of goodies from an online store called Eclectic Paperie.  I ordered a bunch of stuff because they were have 25% off all their Studio 490 products.  I love the new stencils and bought them all except for two that I picked up at the Stamper's Anonymous site.

This is a card I made with my new stash of Studio 490 stuff.  I used Distress Stains for the background and Distress Ink for the stencils.  The honey comb I made with the metallic Distress Stain.  The flower image was stamped with Archival Ink in black and colored with Distress markers.  I finished the card off with some Pearl Mist spray ink.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of you celebrating Rosh Hoshana this week. This is a card I made for a friend. The paper is actually the mat that I used under my Paris Tag I posted last week. The flower stencils are from when I misted the flowers with red Dylusions mist. The apples are a stamp by Lockhart.

Paris Tag

The stamps on this tag are Art for Cards by Hero Arts and Studio 490. I used Cavallini decorative tape "Paris" for the stripes. I inked the stamped girl image with Distress Inks. The tag was stamped, stained with Distress Stains and then I sprayed it with Dylusions spray ink and Pearl Mists. The flowers were sprayed with Dylusions in order to bring out the red in the card. I added a bit of lace and a small border punched from a Martha Stewart punch.

Two Tags

This evening I made two tags. I was off all weekend and thought I should at least take a little creative time for myself. I used Invoke Arts Stamps for the backgrounds on both tags stamped with Ranger archival ink in Sepia. I colored the tags with Ranger Distress Inks. The images are both from Digital Two for Tuesday. The sentiment on the beach tag is a stamp from Darcie's and the girlfriend is from Michaels.

Summer Distress Inks

This week I received my Tim Holtz Summer Distress Inks. There are three beautiful colors that blend well together.

I always love to experiment on a few tags when I first get a set of stamp pads. I used several Sizzix /Tim Holtz embossing folders on these tags. After embossing the inks were stamped onto a craft sheet and sprayed with water. I then soaked up the ink with the tags. The middle tag is highlighted with a Picket Fence Distress Marker. I love the way this marker shows up on darker surfaces.

Here is one tag I finished. The butterfly stamp is by Studio 490. The stencils are Dylusions and the embossing folder is honeycomb by Tim Holtz.

Playing Around With Some New Stamps

I ordered a bunch of new stamps from Joann's.com last week and received them quickly.  I was able to play a little today. These are from Tim Holtz and I used a stencil from Crafters Workshop for the square pattern.  First I rubbed Adirondack Snow Cap pigment ink from Ranger on the entire tags.  Then I used stamping foam and rubbed distress inks on the surface of the tag.  I stamped the background image with Distress Ink and then stamped the hot air balloon with Ranger Archival.  I painted and sprinkled the tag with Twinkling H2O's.  Remember to heat dry between each layer if you try this technique.  I had lots of fun and especially dirty fingers.

Bookmark

This is a bookmark I made for my daughter. She is reading the 2nd book in the Hunger Games trilogy and I thought this sweet girl would be soothing when the book got too deep.

The stamp is Lost Coast. The stencil background is from Dylusions and sprayed with Pearl Mists, inked with Distress Inks. The two accent stripe are trimmed from the Mother's Day card I posted last week. I used Distress Inks to color everything except the leaves. I used my new Distress Markers for the leaves below.

This is the reverse side of the bookmark. The stamp is by Hero Arts.

Red Hat Girl Clothespin Doll

A few months ago I discovered clothespin dolls.  They are simple dolls made from clothespins and wooden balls.  I use pipe cleaners covered with embroidery floss for the arms.  This is a doll I made.  The paint is by Martha Stewart and the accessories are from Hobby Lobby.

Vintage Button Hairpins

These are so much fun to make. I have been collecting vintage buttons for a while and this is the perfect way to use them. I carefully soaked the buttons first then slipped the buttons onto the hairpins and glued them into place with Ultimate glue. The card I placed the pins on is decorated with washi tape by MT and tissue tape by Tim Holtz. I colored the tissue tape with Distress Ink by ranger.

Felted Ipod Cover

I found a great seller on Etsy,Larissa Holland of mmmcrafts. Larissa had several wonderful patterns for dolls and also a great pattern for a Gadget Cozy. I have made two so far. This first one I made for an Itouch. It was so much fun and super easy to make. The cozy is decorated with a Tim Holtz Sizzix die cut of a pinecone. I used Stickles and a rhinestone for the center of the flower. The back button is really a brad. Make sure to check out Larissa's Etsy shop mmmcrafts to see all her wonderful patterns.
